My name is Margie Mackrell (pronounced Muh Krell), and I won't bore you with the cliché story about wanting to be a photographer since I was 13. But, I have been shooting since I was around 11, and even looked at majoring in photography in college, but that's not the direction life took back then.
Over the years I still took photos but did nothing serious with it until a friend asked me take their sons senior photos. I was a nervous wreck doing that session, but afterwards, I realized I enjoyed working with people and had a lot of fun while doing it. After many conversations with my husband, I decided it was time to do what I love, and with his encouragement, I did. I opened 21Seven Photography in 2014, and specialize in photographing Seniors, Couples, Families, and Weddings.
Many people ask me about the name, 21 Seven, and it’s a small tribute to my Dad. "217" is the house number of the house he lived in and I loved that house. Because he bought my first camera back in the day, I thought it was fitting to name my business in a way to honor him. Each time I pick up my camera, I think about him for a moment before I start shooting.
- I have two cats and they have people names
- I ride a motorcycle - yes, I have my own
- I still think I can roller skate even though I haven't been on skates in 30 years
- I can drive a stick shift, I wish I still had one
- I love lime green, it's the color of my tripod and motorcycle
